THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION today warmly welcomed its 250th membercompany as new consortia NuGeneration Ltd launched itself on the UK nuclear scene.
The milestone is seen as another major step forward for the UK’s nuclear industry and is a furtherboost to the burgeoning trade association which represents some 53,000 British nuclear workers andcampaigns for the UK’s low-carbon nuclear future.
Chief Executive Keith Parker welcomed the new company, also know as “NuGen” - and said it was“exciting news” for the UK’s nuclear sector.
“We are delighted to welcome NuGeneration Ltd into the forefront of civil nuclear powerdevelopments in the UK. Their expertise is evident from the strong heritage of their parent companiesIberdrola, GDF Suez and Scottish & Southern Energy.”
“They join us at a crucial stage in the development of a low-carbon future for Britain whererenewables, clean coal, and particularly safe and secure new nuclear power will have a hugelyimportant part to play.”

Mr Parker said the new company’s launch was also great news for West Cumbria – an important hubfor Britain’s nuclear industry.
NuGeneration Ltd plans to build up to 3.6GW of new nuclear on land adjacent to the Sellafield site.
