Manufacturing a Nuclear Future
Saturday 19 May 2012
The Nuclear Industry Association (NIA) is the trade association and representative voice of Britain's civil nuclear industry. It represents more than 270 companies and some 59,000 UK nuclear workers. The NIA supports the commercial interests of its member as part of a diverse energy mix for the UK including renewables, clean coal and gas, with nuclear at the heart of a low-carbon future.

NIA Hit the Road

The NIA will be promoting the SC@nuclear initiative DURING March in a series of collaborative supply chain events.

Firstly, NIA Chief Executive Keith Parker will be speaking at the prestigious Global Manufacturing event in Sheffield on 15 March. The NIA will also have an exhibition stand at the event and will be giving out supply chain literature including the recently revamped Essential Guide.

Next-up it’s a visit to Stirling in Scotland on 24 March where the NIA is linking-up with Scottish Enterprise and a full-day event. The morning session concentrates on decommissioning, but the afternoon slot, sponsored by the NIA will feature a collection of speakers concentrating on new build supply chain and SC@nuclear.

Finally, a busy month for the NIA ends with a top-level supply chain event to be held at the Orbis Energy Centre, at the UK’s most easterly point, in Lowestoft. The event is a collaboration between the NIA and the East of England Energy Group. Once again it is aimed at companies not presently involved in nuclear and will include useful updates on how to work in the nuclear industry, quality standards and accreditation. The event is also being supported by EDF Energy who plan to build new reactors at nearby Sizewell.
